Four Gophers Earn ITA All-Academic Team Honor

The University of Minnesota women's tennis team and four of its players were recently recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their commitment to academic excellence during the 2010-11 school year.
Elianna Kantar, Natallia Pintusava, Mariana Spilca and Magdalena Wiecha were all named to the ITA All-Academic Team for earning a varsity letter and for having a GPA above 3.5. Kantar and Pintusava will be sophomores next season, while Wiecha will be a senior. Spilca exhausted her playing eligibility last year.
The team was also honored for having a collective GPA above 3.2 among those individuals who earned a varsity letter.
The Gophers, who battled numerous injuries throughout the season, finished the 2010-11 season with an 8-16 record. They finished tied for seventh in the Big Ten in the regular season and advanced to the second round of the Big Ten tournament.
