Six Gymnasts Receive NACGC/W Academic Awards

Six gymnasts from the University of Minnesota women's squad received National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W) Scholar-Athlete honors. To qualify for the award, student-athletes must carry a 3.5 or higher grade point average for the academic year.
Recent graduate, Kendra Elm received her fourth Scholar-Athlete honor. Elm graduated this past May with a degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Seniors Lucy Ennis and Brianna Jones each obtained their third accolade. Ennis is majoring in Health and Wellness while Jones is a Physiology major.
Megan Alvarez, Janell Campbell and Alex Feeken garnered their first NACGC/W award. Campbell just completed her sophomore year as a Communication Studies major. Both Alvarez and Feeken completed their freshman year in the Pre-Business program.
As a team, the Golden Gophers boasted a GPA of 3.3667 for the 2010-11 academic year, which ranks them No. 29 in the nation. Southeast Missouri State claimed the crown for highest team GPA at 3.9118.
