UNI Invitational Coming To An End

Minnesota completed play on Saturday at the UNI Invitational. Three Gophers are playing in the tournament, which begna on Friday and ends Sunday.
The event is hosted by the University of Northern Iowa. Participants from Bradley, Drake, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri, Green Bay, UW-Milwaukee and Iowa State join the Gophers and host UNI in the tournament.
Sophomores Pauline Gilbert, Emilie Renault, Elianna Kantar are representing the Gophers in Iowa.
Gilbert advanced to the semifinals of the gold flight with a 6-4, 6-5 win against Drake's Gabby Demos. She fell 6-0, 6-1 to UNI's Jessica Kunzelmann. Gilbert will complete play against Meghan Cassens of Iowa State in the third-place match tomorrow.
Renault bounced back from a defeat yesterday with a 6-5, 6-2 win against Mandy Timm of UW-Green Bay in the consolation bracket of the gold flight. Renault lost her second match on Saturday 6-3, 7-6 to UW-Milwaukee's Chelsea Bailey. She will finish her first fall tournament of the season with a match against UW-Green Bay's Morgan Weuve.
Kantar rebounded from a three-set defeat on Friday with a 6-3, 6-1 win against UW-Milwaukee's Beth Ganser. Kantar then dropped a 6-0, 7-5 match to Hallie Welk of North Dakota. She faces Bradley's Meredith McDonagh tomorrow in her fourth and final match of the event.
This is the second of six fall tournaments that Minnesota will compete in this year. They hosted the nine-team Gopher Invitational last weekend and will next play in the Wildcat Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Evanston, Ill.
