Coach Kill Gives Back Through Youth Camp

Cleanup efforts are still ongoing following last month’s tornado that ripped through North Minneapolis. But more than 100 youth from that area don’t have to be concerned with that for at least a few hours for three days this week.
University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill and many other donors and sponsors are giving those children an opportunity to attend Coach Kill’s Future Gopher Camp, which began Wednesday and continues through Friday. Kill combined forces with civic leaders to provide the opportunity.
“This is our way to give back to the community a little bit,” Kill said. “We’re going to do our best so that all the kids at our camp will have a great experience and gain some knowledge and skill in the sport of football.
“We couldn’t have pulled this off without the help of many sponsors and others who jumped in and really made this happen,” Kill added.
Among those who contributed to the program were: the Lindahl Family, Minneapolis Parks and Recreation, the Minneapolis School District, Dr. John Williams, Partnering For Youth, Thor Construction, Legacy Management, MA Mortenson, Urban Works, the Northeast Minneapolis YMCA, Ezell Jones, members of the Gophers’ 1967 Big Ten Championship team and others.
