Sophomore guard Leah Cotton is a busy person, with her class schedule this semester, studying, writing papers, and taking part in the start of official practices for the Golden Gophers last week.

But last Friday morning, Cotton and seven other members of various University of Minnesota sports teams spent two hours reading books to kids at Golden Lake Elementary in Circle Pines, Minn.

Cotton was at Golden Lake Elementary as part of the "Reading is Magical" program that University of Minnesota Athletics takes part in. Last year, Minnesota athletes made appearances at approximately 20 local schools to read books to kids and stress the importance of reading.
