Laguna, Gophers in Eighth Through Two Rounds at Clover Cup

The Golden Gophers dropped two spots to eighth place on the second day of the Clover Cup tournament in Mesa, Ariz. Minnesota followed up a season-low 293 with a team score of 307 (+19) today.
Carmen Laguna, who was 2-under-par yesterday, was 1-over today, but again posted the best score for the Gophers. She enters the final round tied for eighth. Anna Laorr is tied for 16th after a 76 today. Banchalee Theinthong's combined score is 155 after today's 81. Jackie Shepherd is one stroke behind Theinthong after recording an 80. Sarinee Thitiratankorn was the only Minnesota player to improve her score from the first round to the second. She posted a 78, one stroke better than her round yesterday.
Colorado kept a big lead over the rest of the field, with a two-day score of 558 (-18). On the individual leader board, Kristina Merkle of Tulsa moved into a tie for first with the Buffaloes' Emily Talley, the day one leader. Colorado has four players in the top six.
