Travis Burkstrand Wins 800 Meter at Mt. Sac Relays

The Minnesota men's track and field team wrapped up day two of the Mt. Sac Relays. No team score being kept during the weekend, but the Golden Gophers have had some solid performances so far.
Travis Burkstrand won captured a title in the 800 meter run after clocking in at 1:49.70. Also competing in the event were Nick Hutton, who took third place with a time of 1:49.77, while David Pachuta ran a 1:50.14 for ninth overall. Harun Abda ran a 1:50.31 and Joe McFarland clocked in at 1:50.38 for the Gophers.
Competing for the first time in a couple weeks, Hassan Mead finished eighth overall in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:45.68. Volunteer coach Chris Rombough, who competed for team USA Minnesota clocked in at 13:42.05 for a second place finish.
Andy Richardson and Paul Hilson both ran in the 1,500 meter run. Richardson finished with a time of 3:47.12 and Hilsen finished at 3:47.13.
Minnesota hits the track again tomorrow at the Mt. Sac Relays. Another portion of the team will also be competing at the Iowa Musco Twilight in Iowa City.
