Gophers Sit in Seventh in Columbus

Minnesota currently sits in seventh place after two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Invitational. The Gophers have shot 632 (+54) in Columbus, Ohio thru two rounds. Minnesota was lead by Banchalee Theinthong. She had the two lowest rounds of the day for the Gophers. Theinthong followed a first-round 76 (+4) with a second-round 75 (+3). She currently sits in fourth place at the invitational (+7).
In all, six Gophers competed in Columbus. Gophers Carmen Laguna and Jackie Shepherd are tied for 31st after both carded a 159 (+15) today. Shepherd improved five strokes from her first-round score to shoot 77 (+5) in her second round. Laguna had the opposite happen in her first two rounds.
Sarinee Thitiratanakorn carded rounds of 81 (+9) and 84 (+12). Anna Laorr was able to improve her first-round score by three strokes in order to capture a second round of 82 (+10). Taylor Quinn started the day by shooting a round of 83 (+11) Her second round was 87 (+15).
Scores were high across the tournament in the first two rounds. Ohio State, the hosts, leads the tournament by eight strokes. The Buckeye's 605 (+29) is ahead of both Michigan State and Northwestern, who both shot a 613 (+37). Rachel Rohanna of Ohio State is in first place among individuals. She shot a 144 thru two rounds (E). Iowa State's Punpaka Phuntumabamrung sits in second, five strokes behind Rohanna. Minnesota's Theinthong is seven strokes back of the leader.
The Gophers will play 18 more holes Sunday as the tournament concludes. The team's next competition is the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind. next week.
