The Golden Gopher women's track and field team closed out the Big Ten Championships today in front of 3,294 fans in Madison, Wis. Minnesota finished ninth with 45 points.

The 4x100-meter relay team finished third today after setting the school record in prelims yesterday. Todea-Kay Willis, Nyoka Giles, Chimerem Okoroji, and Kylie Peterson finished in 44.73 seconds, their second-fastest time of the year. Ohio State won with a meet-record time of 43.70.

Peterson (11.80) and Okoroji (11.87) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100m.

The 4x400m relay team ran the No. 4 time in school history. Megan Geyen, Nyoka Giles, Kelly Stalpes, and Alena Brooks finished seventh with a time of 3:38.85.

Stalpes ran the second-fastest race of her career in the 400m hurdles. She finished sixth with a time of 59.53 to follow up a personal record (59.28) in yesterday's prelims.

Laura Docherty, who finished fourth in the 10,000m on Friday, finished seventh in the 5,000m today. Her time of 16:42.24 is a personal record.

Melissa Flucke joined Minnesota's top 10 in the high jump, clearing 5-7 1/4 (1.71m) on her third attempt. Becca Pilkerton narrowly missed scoring in the pole vault. She recorded a season-best vault of 12-8 3/4 (3.88m) on her third attempt at the height.

Ohio State won the conference crown with 117 points. Illinois and Nebraska followed close behind with 110 points each.

The Big Ten Network will air coverage of this weekend's meet on Sunday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m. CT.

The Gophers will now await the announcement of regional qualifiers. The NCAA West Preliminary Round takes place May 24-26 in Austin, Texas.
