Haws Named Rowing's MVP at Annual Team Banquet

Junior Ali Haws was named Minnesota rowing's Most Valuable Athlete at the Golden Gophers' annual team banquet, which was held to celebrate another successful spring season. The Maroon and Gold placed fifth at this season's Big Ten Championships and were ranked as high as No. 18 nationally twice during the year.

After competing in the Gophers' second varsity eight boat last season, Haws made her way into the first varsity eight for every race this season and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team at the Big Ten Championships.

Molly Kalmoe and Caitlin Boon were each awarded the Donna J Olson Unsung Hero Award, while Rebecca Braak was named the Maroon and Gold's Most Improved Rower of the 2011-12 season.

Coxswain Danica Rog garnered Most Valuable Novice Rower accolades and fellow rookie Anna Swanson was named Minnesota's Most Improved Novice Rower.
