All five competing University of Minnesota golfers are in the top 13 after Round 1 of the two-round Barnabas Health Intercollegiate in Bedminster, N.J. The Golden Gophers are in second place, four strokes behind first-place Temple.

Jon Trasamar and Alex Gaugert are tied for seventh individually after carding even-par rounds of 72. Trasamar led the field in par-5 scoring on a windy day at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club's River Course.

Matt Rachey shot a 1-over 73 in his first collegiate round and is tied for 12th. Jose Mendez and Tyler Lowenstein (+2) are tied for 13th.

The Gophers' team score was 291 (+3), behind Temple's 287. Host Seton Hall's Lloyd Jefferson and Temple's Matthew Crescenzo were 3-under on the day to lead all individuals.

"We have put ourselves into position to win a team title for the first time in many years," head coach John Carlson said. "We made 20 birdies in 18 holes today. We will play the par 3's better in the final round tomorrow by limiting our mistakes around the greens. Another very consistent team effort today."

Tee times for the second and final round begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Monday. The first Minnesota golfers' will start play at 8:58 a.m. CT.
