The University of Minnesota will begin play in the Linger Longer open on Sunday in 13th place. The Gophers posted a combined score of 308 in the first round and have players through 11-13 holes in the afternoon session.
Second round play has been suspended due to darkness and will resume on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT with the competition of the suspended round followed by the third and final round. The players also dealt with an earlier two-hour weather delay.
Tyler Lowenstein carded the lowest round of the morning for Minnesota with a three-over par 75. He is currently even through 12 holes in the second round and is in a tie for 31st place. Jon Trasamar posted a 76 in the morning but has struggled through 10 holes in second round play. He will begin Sunday in a tie for 72nd place.
Erik Van Rooyen, the Gophers stroke leader heading into the tournament, began the day with a 78 but is currently even par through 10 holes and is in a tie for 45th place. Robert Bell posted a first round 79 and is one over par through 11 holes while Alex Gaugert is four over par through13 holes after carding an 84 in the morning. Bell is in a tie for 57th place while Gaugert is tied for 78th place.
Alabama holds a comfortable 13-shot lead in the team standings over Kennesaw State and Oklahoma State.
