The Gophers fired a combined round of 296 on Sunday in the final round of the Rutherford Invitational in Happy Valley, Pa. Minnesota opened the invitational with rounds of 307 and 293 on Saturday. The squad's 54-hole score of 896 (+44) tied them for third place with the host Penn State Nittany Lions.

Binghamton University won the team title with a score of 890, five shots ahead of second place Xavier. Xavier's Tanapol Vattanapisit defeated Penn State's JD Dornes in a playoff to take home medalist honors.

Sophomore Tyler Lowenstein carded a final-round 74 on Sunday and paced the Gophers for the weekend with a 54-hole total of 223, which was good for a tie for 10th place finish for the Plymouth, Minn. native. It is the first top-10 finish of his collegiate career.

A Minnesota trio of Erik Van Rooyen, Robert Bell and Jon Trasamar all finished in a tie for 22nd place with three-day cards of 226. Trasamar carded the round of the weekend for Minnesota with his final round, even-par 71. Bell finished with a round of 75 while Van Rooyen contributed a 77. Alex Gaugert finished alone in 23 rd place with tournament score of 227.

The Rutherford Invitational was the regular-season finale for the Gophers, as they will now head to French Lick, Ind. on April 26-28 for the 2013 Big Ten Championships.
