The Gophers are Holding Steady at the Big Ten Championsips

Results (After Three Rounds)
Minnesota rebounded from a tough second round and trimmed its team score by 12 strokes with a third round score of 290 on Saturday. As a result, the Gophers still hold a firm hold on second place with 18 holes remaining in the 2013 Big Ten Championships.
Senior Robert Bell made the biggest leap of the day for Minnesota. The Pierz, Minn. native posted a team-best 70 on Saturday and moved up 10 spots into a tie for fifth. He is nine shots off the lead with a three-round score of 219. Bell's third round 70 is the lowest score he has contributed at the Big Ten Championships in his career.
Fellow senior Erik Van Rooyen, the team's stroke leader the last two seasons, is in great shape to capture his third career top-10 finish at the Big ten Championships. He will begin Sunday's final round in a tie for second place with a 54-hole score of 217.
Freshman Jon DuToit rebounded from his second-round 78 to contribute an even par 72 on Saturday. The Chaska, Minn. native is in a tie for ninth place with a card of 221. Tyler Lowenstein is in a tie for 24th place with a 226 and Jon Trasamar is in a tie for 29th place with a 54-hole score of 227.
Illinois, winners of the last five Big Ten Championships, is in first place by seven strokes over Minnesota. Indiana is in third place, followed by Iowa and Ohio State. The Gophers are clear of Indian by 13 strokes heading into play on Sunday.
The fourth and final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the Gophers' lineup beginning play around 9:20 a.m. The entire round can be followed live at www.golfstat.com.
