Gophers Move Up to Fifth in Midwest Region

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's cross country team moved up to fifth in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest Region rankings, according to a release by the organization earlier today.
The Gophers are coming off an eighth-place finish at the 28th Annual Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, totaling 231 team points including John Simons' sixth-place finish in the individual competititon.
Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Illinois and Oklahoma fill out the rest of the top five in first through fourth, respectively.
The weekly USTFCCCA national poll comes out Tuesday.
The Gophers return to action this Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
