The No. 23 University of Minnesota defeated Rutgers in three sets, 25-8, 25-17 and 25-21 to improve to 13-4 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten.

Daly Santana led the Golden Gophers with 15 kills and added on eight digs in the match. Alyssa Goehner had a team-high 11 digs. Katie Schau had a team-high 29 assists in addition to nine digs. As a team, the Gophers hit .218 to Rutgers' .000. The Gophers also outblocked the Scarlet Knights 5-4, as well as digs 41-28. The Gophers also had a season-high 14 aces in the match. 

Minnesota looks to get their third straight Big Ten victory at home Wednesday night, when they host Wisconsin at 6:00 p.m. The match is also set to be televised live on the Big Ten Network. 

Set 1: Minnesota took the first set, 25-8 against Rutgers as it hit .588 in the first set.  Minnesota opened the match with a 10-2 lead after a kill by Hannah Tapp, which forced Rutgers to take its first timeout. The Gophers continued to push the set to 16-5 on the serve rotation of Hannah Tapp when she provided two aces in that span, while also setting up Santana for a kill. Santana added another kill to push the score to an 18-6 lead, while Lohman and Wilhite added a block for a 22-7 score. Minnesota completed the set win on a kill from Wilhite, a block from Wilhite and Hannah Tapp for set point. Santana added her fifth kill of the set. Minnesota had six aces in the first set and added three blocks.

Set 2: Minnesota went up 2-0 on a 25-17 second set win. The Gophers went up 12-5 on a kill from Lohman and another kill from Santana before the Scarlet Knights took a timeout. Lohman put the Gophers up 16-7 on a kill, before Rutgers came back and cut the deficit to five at 20-16 with a block. Minnesota took a timeout and came out of the break with a kill from Hannah Tapp. The Gophers finished off the set with Santana kills for the 22nd and 23rd points, a Paige Tapp/Lohman block, while Santana added the final point with her 10th kill.

Set 3: The Gophers won the match in three with a 25-21 third set win. Minnesota made a lineup change in the set as Goehner played outside, while Dalianliz Rosado became the Gopher libero. Coming out of the break, Rutgers took 15-12 lead on an ace from Talia Holze. The Gophers, however, came back and would tie the set at 16 on an ace by Goehner and take a two-point lead with a block from Santana and Hannah Tapp and a kill by Santana. Minnesota went up 22-19 on a Santana ace, while Goehner pushed the score to 23-20 on a kill. The Gophers finished the set and the match with another kill from Goehner, her third of the set.
