MADISON, Wis. - The University of Minnesota volleyball team faced the fifth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers for the second time in four days, and the 23rd-ranked Gophers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Badgers at sold-out UW Field House Saturday evening. Set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.

Junior Daly Santana along with sophomore Sarah Wilhite led the Gopher offense with seven kills each, while Adrianna Nora had four block assists. Katie Schau posted 21 assists and 16 digs. The Gophers (13-6, 3-5) are back in action on Wednesday when they host Nebraska. First serve from the Sports Pavilion is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with the match televised live on the Big Ten Network.

Set Breakdown:

Set 1: Gophers tied the score at nine-all and took the lead on the next play, a Badgers attack error. An ace by Lohman made it 12-10 and forced the Badgers first timeout. Minnesota led by as many as three including at 18-15, but after the second Wisconsin timeout, the Badgers embarked on a 10-1 run including eight unanswered points to end the set. Wisconsin hit .312 in the set, while the Gopher attack fell to .059.

Set 2: It was a 7-7 game early on before the Badgers took the lead for good with four points in a row. A Rosado ace cut the gap to 17-12, but that was as close as the Gophers could get in the second set as the Badgers took the two-set lead into intermission. The Minnesota attack dropped to -.105 in the stanza, while Wisconsin's dipped to .143.

Set 3: The Gophers scored the first four points including three straight Wilhite kills. A block by Paige Tapp and Wilhite made it 8-3 and pressured the Badgers into using their second timeout early in the set. It was a 10-5 Gopher lead before a 6-1 run by Wisconsin tied the score at 11. The Gophers would not regain the advantage, keeping it close before four straight Badger points ended the match. Wilhite posted six kills total in the set.
