The University of Minnesota Student-Athlete Development office held the inaugural Pro Day, Thursday, Oct. 23 at TCF Bank Stadium. Golden Gopher Athletics welcomed 45 Minnesota-based corporations to the first-ever event, which was held in the DQ Club Room. Similar to a job-fair, the event was a success as nearly 600 of the 750 student-athlete population attended. The intent was to build relationships, network and grow professionally for life after athletics.
Corporations began arriving at TCF Bank Stadium at 5:30 p.m., to set up their assigned stations throughout the club room and were provided a dinner before student-athletes checked in at 7 p.m. Businesses who wished to conduct professional interviews at Pro Day were also given suite access to engage with the student-athletes for more in-depth conversations.
As student-athletes checked in by the M Club Hall of Fame, they were free to roam upstairs, go station-to-station, and talk with individuals representing their organization. Held from 7-9 p.m., student-athletes were also allowed to have a professional headshot taken for their Linkedin page.
Among current student-athletes in attendance, Gopher Athletics also invited back approximately 25 alums, who volunteered or represented a company at this event. Current Gopher Ben Bravence (men's swimming and diving) and Gopher director of community relations Linda Roberts spearheaded the event.
