The University of Minnesota women's soccer team fell in the regular season finale to Big Ten foe Northwestern on Saturday afternoon. The match, originally scheduled for Friday evening, was postponed due to high winds. After 107 scoreless minutes, Northwestern freshman Michelle Manning scored her second goal of the season to lift her team over Minnesota in double overtime. During the 107 minutes of play, the Gophers failed to put a ball on frame as Northwestern out shot Minnesota, 20-3. The Wildcats earned nine corners during the match to Minensota's 1 as they battled for the 1-0 double overtime victory. This match marks only the third time in 2014 where the Gophers have suffered a shutout loss.

Senior Taylor Wodnick tallied the two shots of the second half for the Maroon and Gold but both sailed wide of the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs collected nine saves on the afternoon, with three back-to-back saves in the second half to propel the Gophers to overtime.

Manning scored the golden goal in the 107th minute of play from 10 yards out on the far left side to punch Northwestern's ticket to the Big Ten Tournament.

During the match, four yellow cards were awarded. Olivia Schultz was given her first caution of the season in the 86th minute of play.

The Maroon and Gold will travel to Purdue University next week to participate in the Big Ten Tournament. More information regarding the Gophers opponent and game times will be posted as it becomes available.
