Gophers Suffer Road Loss at UMD

DULUTH, Minn. (GopherSports.com) - Despite a valiant third period effort that carried right down to the final seconds, the No. 1 Gopher Hockey program suffered a 2-1 road loss to No. 13/15 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday night at Amsoil Arena.
Minnesota (7-3-0 overall, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten) fell into an early 2-0 hole, but rallied back in the third period when freshman forward Leon Bristedt found the net for the second time this season midway through the final stanza. The Swedish import scored at 11:18 to cut the deficit in half with Seth Ambroz and Jack Glover each picking up their second assists of the season on the play.
Adam Wilcox once again stood tall in net for the Gophers, picking up another 32 saves on Saturday to go along with his season-high 35 on Friday night. The junior moved to 7-3-0 with the loss as did Kasimir Kaskisuo with the 24-save win.
The Bulldogs (8-4-0, 4-2-0 NCHC) started fast once again on Saturday night with Dominic Toninato scoring his ninth of the season just 28 seconds into the game off assists from Alex Iafallo while Karson Kuhlman made it a two-goal lead with a power-play goal at 17:05 of the first after being set up by Willi Raskob and Tony Cameranesi.
Minnesota returns to action next Friday, Nov. 21 with a 7 p.m. exhibition contest with the U.S. Under-18 Team at Mariucci Arena.
