11/24/2014 12:00:00 AM | Wrestling
The Big Ten Network today announced its broadcast schedule for the 2014-15 wrestling season and it features three of top-ranked Minnesota's Big Ten duals, all of which are home duals.
Minnesota's first televised contest will be on Thursday, Dec. 18 when the Gophers host No. 6 Northwestern at the Sports Pavilion at 7 p.m. CT. The Gophers defeated the Wildcats 26-12 last season in Evanston and have won 12 straight duals against the Cats, lasting losing in January, 1996.
The second BTN wrestling broadcast featuring Minnesota will be against No. 13 Michigan on January 9 at 8 p.m. CT at the Sports Pavilion. The Gophers will be looking to avenge their only loss in dual competition last season when the Wolverines come to Minneapolis. Prior to last year's meet, Minnesota had defeated Michigan three consecutive times.
The last regular season appearance for the Gophers on BTN will come on Friday, Jan. 30 when Minnesota hosts No. 2 Iowa at Williams Arena at 6 p.m. CT. Minnesota defeated the Hawkeyes 19-15 last season in Iowa City and has won its last two duals against its border rival.
Four additional Big Ten duals on the Gophers' schedule - at Rutgers (Sunday, Jan. 11), vs. Illinois (Sunday, Jan. 18), at Ohio State (Friday, Feb. 6) and at Maryland (Sunday, Feb. 8) - will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus, the conference's subscription-based streaming service.
For all duals throughout the 2014-15 season, in-match updates are available on the Gopher Wrestling Twitter feed, with a recap of each event available afterwards here on GopherSports.com.
