Pannek, Cameranesi Earn WCHA Weekly Honors

MINNEAPOLIS - Gophers Dani Cameranesi and Kelly Pannek have been named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Players of the Week after Minnesota swept Minnesota State and defeated St. Cloud State, Nov. 21-24. Cameranesi is the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, and Pannek is the WCHA Rookie of the Week.
Cameranesi earned her second WCHA weekly honor of the season after scoring five goals in three games as the Gophers swept Minnesota State, 5-1 and 4-0, and defeated St. Cloud State, 5-0. Cameranesi's five goals included two power-play goals and two game-winning goals; she also recorded her second hat trick of the season.
The Plymouth, Minn., native scored her second hat trick of the season to lead Minnesota to Friday's 5-1 road win over Minnesota State. She scored the Gophers' second, third and fifth goals, including two power-play goals and the game-winner, on 10 shots. Cameranesi also scored the game-winner in Minnesota's 4-0 win over the Mavericks last Saturday before completing her five-goal effort with one goal in the Gophers' 5-0 win over St. Cloud State Monday night.
Cameranesi (14g-7a) ranks second in the WCHA and is tied for eighth in the nation with 1.50 points per game. She leads the WCHA and is tied for third in the country with 1.00 goals per game. Cameranesi is tied for the national lead with five power-play goals and four game-winning goals as well.
Meanwhile, Pannek received the first WCHA honor of her career after scoring her first career hat trick to lead the Gophers in their 5-0 win over St. Cloud State Monday night in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women's Faceoff Classic.
Pannek's three goals came on five shots and included the game-winning goal and a power-play goal as she scored Minnesota's first, second and fifth goals. Pannek now has 11 points on the season on four goals and seven assists. She ranks third in scoring among WCHA rookies, averaging 0.73 points per game.
No. 2 Minnesota (12-1-2, 9-1-2-0 WCHA) travels to Princeton (6-3-1, 4-2-0) for a non-conference series this Saturday and Sunday. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. CT both days.
