GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Golden Gophers travelled to the University of Florida to take on the Gators. The women's team stayed perfect, beating the Gators 183-117 to improve to a 5-0 record on the season. The men's team fell to Florida 167-125, they now have a record of 3-2.

Both the Minnesota men's and women's teams trailed the Gators in the 200 medley relay.

However, Minnesota answered placing first in the 1000 freestyle. Freshman Brooke Zeiger led the heat, placing first with a time of 9:44.67 ahead of Florida's Jessica Thielmann.

Senior CJ Smith had an impressive performance when he won the men's 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:08.68. The event was a battle between Smith and Gator Arthur Frayler, coming down to the last 50 when Smith pulled away for the win.

Lauren Votava had a first-place finish in the women's 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.99.

In the 100 breast, the Gopher women took first, second and third. Junior Kierra Smith took home the gold with a powerful 1:00.92. Blake Zeiger and Rae Bullinger followed.

Freshman Danielle Nack dominated in the 200 fly, placing first with a time of 1:59.67.

Brandon Hatanaka and Andrew Hartbarger battled in the 200 fly taking third and fourth in the event consecutively.

Becca Weiland sprinted her way to a 22.89 for first place in the women's 50 freestyle. Sophomore Paul Fair posted a 20.88 in the 50 free for third place.

Lexi Tenenbaum totaled 324.90 points on the three-meter boards for first place. Junior Manny Pollard finished first on the three-meter with 387.75 points.

Sophomore Daryl Turner picked up a first-place finish for the Gophers in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 44.42.

Senior Carl Newenhouse powered his way to a 1:47.68 in the 200 back to place second after Florida's Corey Main.

Kierra Smith took the win in the 200 breast posting a time of 2:09.46 for first place, nearly twelve seconds faster than Gator Lindsey McKnight. Smith's time is currently recorded as the second fastest time in the nation.

Senior Becca Weiland picked up her second win of the day in the women's 100 fly. Weiland finished with a time of 53.94 for first.

On the women's one-meter, the Gophers dominated going 1-2-3 in the event. Yu Zhou finished first with a total of 329.32 points. The men followed suit placing first, second and third on the one-meter. Matt Barnard finished first with a total of 337.05 points.

Freshman Brooke Zeiger picked up her second event win of the day in the 400 IM. Zeiger finished with a time of 4:14.94, five seconds over the rest of the field.

The Minnesota women finished the day taking first and second place in the 400 free relay. The relay team of Lauren Votava, Becca Weiland, Tori Simenec and Blake Zeiger finished with a time of 3:22.38.

The Gators put their athletes in as exhibition, giving the Gophers the final win of the day with a time of 3:01.40.

The University Aquatic Center will host the Minnesota Grand Prix November 20-22. The 2014 Arena Grand Prix at Minneapolis, the first of six stops in the 2014-15 Arena Grand Prix Series. This series is key for Olympic hopeful athletes as they continue preparations for 2016. Tickets are required for both prelims and finals. Tickets may be purchased at the University Aquatic Center Ticket Booth on each competition day. All-session passes can be purchased online now.
