MINNEAPOLIS (Gophersports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team will enter the 2015 season ranked seventh in the College Gymnastics Association's (CGA) Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Sunday.

Minnesota is one of seven Big Ten Conference schools represented in the poll and earned the fifth-highest ranking among its conference opponents as Michigan (2), Ohio State (3), Illinois (5) and Penn State (6) reserved spots in the Top 10. Reigning national champion Michigan paced the Big Ten collecting four first place votes and a second place ranking.

The Gophers No. 7-ranking matches their highest ranking in the last 17 years as the online rankings archive only dates back to 1997. This is the second-consecutive year that the Maroon and Gold will open the season at No. 7.

The Maroon and Gold will host their annual Intrasquad meet on Saturday, Dec. 6 with warm-ups beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Cooke Hall. Routines should begin around 2:30 p.m. and are open to the public.

Minnesota will open regular season competition by attending the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill. on Jan. 17 before hosting Air Force on Jan. 24 in its first home meet of the season at the Sports Pavilion.
