Gophers to Hold Intrasquad Meet Friday

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota women's track & field team invites fans to get their first look at the 2015 squad at the team's annual intrasquad meet this Friday. Action gets underway at 3:30 p.m. at the U of M Fieldhouse, and admission is free.
The Gophers will divide into two teams and compete Maroon vs. Gold to conclude their fall training. The scheduled events include 1,000-meters, 600-meters, 300-meters, 60-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay, pole vault, shot put, weight throw and long jump.
Minnesota officially begins the 2015 indoor season by hosting the Minnesota Open on Saturday, Jan. 17.
The Gophers return four NCAA Championship participants and three Big Ten runners-up from a year in Jess Herauf (ninth in pentathlon, Big Ten heptathlon and pentathlon runner-up), Devin Stanford (15th in hammer throw, Big Ten discus runner-up), Titania Markland (19th in outdoor 4x400-meter relay), Jessica Waldvogel (19th in outdoor 4x400-meter relay) and Nicolle Murphy (Big Ten javelin runner-up). Minnesota also adds 22 true freshmen and 16 redshirt freshmen to the lineup this year.
