The University of Minnesota women's rowing team opened competition at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational Saturday, with the Golden Gophers defeating West Virginia in four of its five races in the afternoon session.
Minnesota's 1V8 opened the afternoon with a nearly 17-second win over the Mountaineers, before the 1V4 followed suit with a 40+second victory just minutes later. The 2V8 and the 2V4 also clocked in ahead of West Virginia, while the 3V4 placed second behind Alabama in its four-team race.
Earlier in the day, the Gophers competed against Virginia in the morning session, with the Cavaliers winning each of the five events.
Minnesota concludes competition in Tennessee Sunday morning against Alabama beginning at 10:06 a.m. CT.
