ROSEMOUNT, Ill. - For the third time this season, Minnesota softball senior Sara Moulton was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. It is the third weekly conference honor for the Gophers in 2014 and is the 11th Pitcher of the Week Award the Eagan, Minn. native has earned in her career.

Moulton threw 40 strikeouts in 20 innings on the weekend, racking up three wins and a save to lead the Gophers to a 4-0 record at the Chanticleer Showdown in Conway, S.C. Moulton is now 14-2 on the year and has 99 career wins.

Her shutout of Coastal Carolina was the 100th complete game and 43rd shutout of her career-all school records. The senior hurler allowed just seven hits, two walks, and one unearned run on the weekend.

In 95 innings of work over 17 appearances this season, Moulton has racked up seven double-digit strikeout games and has allowed just seven extra base hits. Her 141 strikeouts have her at 1,081 for her career, the second most all-time in the program behind pitching coach Piper Ritter, who had 1,122.

The Gophers are off to their best 24-game start in school history at 21-3.

No. 16/19 Minnesota plays at South Carolina Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT before kicking off Big Ten action Friday on the road at Nebraska at 6 p.m. CT. The Gophers will finish their series against the Cornhuskers with 1 p.m. CT contests Saturday and Sunday.
