14 Gophers Named Academic All-Big Ten

MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) – Fourteen members of the Minnesota men’s hockey program have been honored as Academic All-Big Ten honorees including all five members of the Gophers’ senior class, the conference announced this week.
The University of Minnesota totaled 88 Academic All-Big Ten accolades for the winter season between men’s and women’s programs. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letter winners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.
The No. 1/2 Minnesota men's hockey program makes its 35th appearance in the NCAA tournament this weekend as the host institution of the NCAA West Regional at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Gophers kick off the national tournament with the first-ever meeting against Robert Morris on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT (ESPN2). Notre Dame and St. Cloud State follow in the second semifinal at 8:00 p.m. (ESPNU) while the NCAA West Regional championship game is set for Sunday at 6:30 p.m. (ESPNU).
