Jose Mendez has a chance to play in the 2015 Masters. He is playing in the Latin America Amateur Championship, in which the winner earns an invitational to Augusta National. The 72-hole LAAC runs Jan. 15-18 at Pilar Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Mendez, the 2014 Big Ten co-medalist, is one of three Costa Ricans in the 109-player field. The Gophers sophomore is currently No. 40 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
