Minnesota to Face N.C. State

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Golden Gophers will hit the road to take on the N.C. State Wolfpack in a two day meet. Competition will begin Friday, Jan. 23 at 4:00 p.m. CT and will continue on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9:00 a.m. CT. Both the Minnesota men's and women's teams are coming off wins against Hawaii.
GOPHERS VS. WOLFPACK
In their 2014 match up, the Minnesota men came back after being one point down after day one to pick up a in against N.C. State, with a final score of 192-159. The Gophers went 1-2-3 in the men's 500 freestyle with CJ Smith placing first with a time of 4:27.24. Ben Bravence and Logan Redondo followed.
The Gopher women also added a win to their season in last season's meet against N.C. State. With a final score of 190.5-156.5, Minnesota ended the meet winning the 400 free relay with team members Rebecca Weiland, Lauren Votava, Tori Simenec and Blake Zeiger.
IN THE RANKS
The Minnesota men's team holds a record of 4-2, and the 23rd spot on the CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) as of December 11, 2014. The N.C. State hold a strong 17th spot in the rankings.
The 6-0 Gopher women are currently ranked 11th as of January 15, 2015 according to the CSCAA. The N.C. State women are ranked 16th.
