Macdonald Cup to Start a Day Early

Minnesota travels to New Haven, Connecticut, for its third fall tournament. The Macdonald Cup has been moved up a day to run Oct. 2-3 due to the impending storm on the East Coast.
Teams will play 18 holes Friday with a shotgun start at 12:15 Central. Saturday will feature 36 holes of continuous play.
The travel squad: Justin Doeden, Grady Meyer, Tom Vining, Jon DuToit and RĆĀŗnar Arnorsson will play for Minnesota. The first three were exempt, while the next two earned places in a 54-hole team qualifying tournament. Doeden led Minnesota at the Husky Invitational, tying for 10th, the last time out.
The field: Joining host Yale and the Gophers will be Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fairfield, Fordham, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rutgers, Wagner and Stirling (Scotland).
The course: Golfweek rated the Course at Yale the best course on a college campus.
Notes: *Through two tournaments, Vining (73.50) and Doeden (73.83) have the Gophers' best scoring averages.
*After the Macdonald Cup, Minnesota will have played in three different time zones to start the 2015-16 season: Central (Gopher Invitational), Pacific (Husky Invitational) and Eastern.
