Gophers Ninth, Doeden tied for eighth after two rounds

The Gophers are in ninth place after two rounds at the Alister MacKenzie Invatational in Fairfax, California. The team shot a 277 in each of the two rounds for a total score of 554 (-14) at the end of the day.
Junior Justin Doeden leads the Gophers with a 135. Doeden shot a bogey-free, 6-under 65 in the first round, which is the best round for any Gopher so far this year. He was tied for eighth after two rounds.
Senior Jon DuToit and sophomore Charlie Duensing had identical scores in both rounds, shooting a 71 in the first round and 68 in the second. Duensing had the Gophers' only eagle on Monday, on hole 15 in the second round. Duensing and DuToit are tied for 28th.
Junior Grady Meyer tied his career-best round score in the first round with a 70. Freshman Tom Vining had his best score of the day in the later round, shooting an even 71.
Hosts California lead the competition with a team score of 538. Cody Blick of San Jose State holds the individual lead with a 129.
The final round for the Gophers will start Tuesday at 10:30 central time.
