Minnesota's Matt Barnard and Yu Zhou have been tabbed as Big Ten Divers of the Week, following their event sweep against the Wisconsin Badgers last Friday. These selections mark the third straight week the Gophers juniors have received the conference honors.
Barnard led the Gophers in men's diving to a 1-2-3-4 finish in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, breaking both University of Wisconsin Natatorium pool records in the process. Barnard recorded a total of 357.83 points on the 1-meter board, and finished with a score of 403.12 in 3-meter.
Zhou collected a UW Natatorium pool record of her own in the 1-meter competition, where she finished first with a total of 332.77 points. Zhou also earned a first-place mark on the 3-meter board with a leading 366.38 points. This honor marks the sixth time she has been named the women's B1G Diver of the Week.
Barnard, Zhou and the Gophers will compete next on Friday, Oct. 30 against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The B1G contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at the University of Iowa's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
