Gophers Host Jack's Twilight Run

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - Abby Kargol, Courtney Alama and Bailey Ness earned top-30 finishes as the Minnesota women's cross country team hosted its eighth annual running of Jack's Twilight Run Friday evening at Les Bolstad Course.
On a cool, rainy evening, 80 runners participated in the open 6K race. Devin Monson was the overall winner in 19:26.3, and Kargol was the top female finisher in 23:06.5.
Alama (23:11.1) came in 28th place overall as the second female finisher, followed by Ness in a season-best 23:12.7 in 29th place overall as the third female finisher.
Danielle Anderson (23:20.1), Taylor Mikkalson (23:27.3), Tess Wasowicz (23:30.1), and Molly Eastman (23:43.8) completed Minnesota's top seven runners.
Jack's Twilight Run honors the late Minnesota equipment manager Jack Johnson. Johnson will always be a part of the Minnesota women's cross country and track programs. After serving as the Golden Gophers' equipment manager for over three decades, Johnson passed away in February 2006 after a battle with cancer.
The Gophers kick off the championship portion of the season with the 2015 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Nov. 1. The women's 6K race is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. CT at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Chicago's north side hosted by Northwestern.
