Gophers Finish Fourth at Big Tens

CHICAGO (GopherSports.com) - Liz Berkholtz and Kaila Urick earned All-Big Ten honors to lead the University of Minnesota women's cross country program to a fourth-place finish at the 2015 Big Ten Championships on Sunday at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course.
The Gophers totaled 106 points in the six-kilometer race behind Penn State with 53, Michigan with 58 and Michigan State with 104. Michigan's Erin Finn won the individual crown with a time of 19:44.9.
Berkholtz led the Gophers for the second year in a row at the conference meet, finishing 11th to earn Second Team All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career. She finished in a season-best 20:18.7.
Meanwhile, Urick also picked up Second Team All-Big Ten honors in her second appearance at the conference meet. The redshirt senior came in 14th, crossing the finish line at 20:29.0 for a season-best time as well.
Haley Johnson (19th, career-best 20:38.7) and Madeline Strandemo (20th, career-best 20:41.3) also posted top-20 finishes for the Maroon & Gold while Jamie Piepenburg (44th, career-best 21:15.1) closed out Minnesota's scoring for the meet.
Tamara Gorman (career-best 21:25.0), Emily Betz (career-best 21:25.8), Patty O'Brien (career-best 21:39.2), and Stacey Swatek (21:40.7) also competed for Minnesota, with all nine Gophers finishing in the top 64.
The Big Ten Network will air delayed coverage of the B1G Championship at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Nov. 12.
