Gophers in the Polls: November 17

Jumping up double-digits in the polls while knocking off top-ranked teams are just some of the highlights of the Gophers' nationally-ranked programs this past week.

Women's Hockey - #3 (USCHO.com), #3 (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine)

Last Week: The Gophers returned to action following a bye weekend and swept Bemidji State at home by scores of 4-0 and 8-3. Hannah Brandt was named the WCHA Player of the Week as she became the program's all-time points leader and tied a school record with five goals on Saturday against the Beavers.

Coming Up: The Gophers host Yale in a non-conference series at Ridder Arena this weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. CT both Friday and Saturday nights.

Volleyball ââ'¬" #3 (AVCA), #1 (NCAA RPI)

Last Week: In front of a capacity crowd at the Pav, the Gophers knocked off then-No.1 Penn State in straight sets on Saturday night, after winning 3-1 at Northwestern on Wednesday. The victories extended the Gophers' school-record win streak to 14 matches.

Coming Up: Minnesota hosts Maryland Wednesday evening before traveling to Purdue on Saturday.

Men's Cross Country - #16

Last Week: The Gophers jumped 10 spots in the poll after an impressive second-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Midwest Regional this weekend. The Gophers posted four All-Region honorees (Aaron Bartnik, Adam Zutz, Obsa Ali, Charlie Lawrence) and combined for 95 points at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Coming Up: The 2015 NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, Nov. 21 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The men's 10-kilometer race is set for 12 p.m. CT. For the first time since 2011 that the entire team will run for an NCAA title.

Men's Swimming & Diving - #18

Last Week: Several current and former Gophers competed at the Arena Pro Swim Series at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the Minnesota campus.

Coming Up: Head diving coach Wenbo Chen and the Minnesota diving squad will head to Atlanta, Georgia, next week for a Georgia Tech Invite. The three-day diving meet will run from Thursday, Nov. 19 to Saturday, Nov. 21, with 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving set to be contested.

Wrestling - #22 (Intermat)

Last Week: Minnesota lost to three top-15 opponents at Northeast Duals, falling 20-17 vs. North Carolina, 22-12 vs. Lehigh and 31-3 vs. NC State.

Coming Up: The Gophers return home to host Air Force on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Sports Pavilion.

Last Week: Liz Berkholtz and Haley Johnson earned All-Region honors as the Gophers finished third at the NCAA Midwest Regional, advancing to their 11th straight NCAA Championship.

Coming Up: The Golden Gopher women's cross country team heads to the 2015 NCAA Championship this Saturday. The women's 6K race begins at 11 a.m. CT at at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
