Men's Basketball
Joey King: B1G Co-Player of the Week
Stats: King tallied back-to-back 20-point games in the Gophers home wins over UMKC and ULM this weekend, including a career-high 22-point effort against UMKC. King totaled 42 points over both games, while pulling down 12 rebounds. King also had 2 assists and a steal over both games.
Coming Up: The Gophers will travel to San Juan for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off this week, where they face Temple in opening round action Thursday at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Women's Basketball
Mikayla Bailey: Big Ten Co-Player of the Week
Stats: Bailey had a career high 26 points in the Gopher's home opening victory over Wofford, while pulling down a career high 13 rebounds on the night. Bailey tied her career high with 3 steals, and added 5 assists.
Coming Up: The Gophers will return to the court this Friday at 7:00 p.m. as they take on the Maine Black Bears at Williams Arena.
Gopher Volleyball
Hannah Tapp: B1G Defensive Player of the Week
Stats: Tapp had a total of 23 kills combined in the wins over Northwestern and Penn State, which averaged 3.29 per set. Tapp tied a team-high 10 total blocks against the Wildcats, while also accomplishing a team-best 5 blocks against the Nittany Lions. She also added 2 digs in the win.
Sarah Wilhite: espnW National Player of the Week
Stats: Wilhite led the Gophers to victory over Penn State with a team-high 12 kills while also hitting .579 on the match. Wilhite contributed 12 kills and 8 digs in Minnesota's victory over Northwestern, totaling 24 kills on the weekend along with 12 digs.
Coming Up: The Gophers host Maryland this Wednesday, November 18th at 6:00 p.m.
Gopher Football
Shannon Brooks: Big Ten Freshman of the Week
Stats: Brooks rushed 14 times for 86 rushing yards and 1 touchdown against the No. 9-ranked Hawkeyes rushing defense. Brooks also became the first non-quarterback to throw a touchdown for the Gophers since 2010 after he completed a 42-yard touchdown pass to Drew Wolitarsky.
Coming Up: The Gophers continue Big Ten play this weekend when they host Illinois at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21st, at TCF Bank Stadium.
Gopher Women's Hockey
Hannah Brandt: WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
Stats: Brandt's 5-goal game against Bemidji State started with her scoring her 100th career goal, becoming the fourth Gopher Women's hockey player all-time to reach 100 career goals. Brandt's fifth goal of the game also marked her 247th career point, pushing her past Natalie Darwitz as Minnesota's all-time career points leader at 104 goals and 143 assists.
Coming Up: The Gophers host Yale in a non-conference series at Ridder Arena this weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. CT both Friday and Saturday nights.
Gopher Men's Hockey
Eric Schierhorn: Big Ten Third Star of the Week
Stats: Schierhorn made 31 saves in the first game of the series against Minnesota State, and 28 saves in game 2 as the Mavericks forced a series split. Schierhorn currently leads the Big Ten with a .931 save percentage and a 2.11 goals against average.
Coming Up: Minnesota is off this weekend before returning to action with a two-game nonconference series against St. Cloud State, November 27-29, at Mariucci Arena.
Gopher Women's Swimming and Diving
Brooke Zeiger: Big Ten Co-Swimmer of the Week
Stats: Zeiger established two new Minnesota school records during the Arena Pro Swim Series at the Jean K Freeman Aquatics Center this weekend. She finished fourth in the 400M individual medley racing between two Olympians (Katie Ledecky and Elizabeth Beisel).
Rachel Munson: Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week
Stats: Munson took fifth in the 100 breaststoke this weekend, and all of her breaststroke races were Olympic Trials qualifying times.
Coming Up: The next swimming event for the Gophers kicks off December 4th with the Jean K. Freeman Invitational at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.
