MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - First Team All-Big Ten and All-Region honoree Adam Zutz has been named USA Track & Field Minnesota Athlete of the Month for October.
A native of St. Francis, Minn., Zutz ran a personal eight-kilometer record of 23:53.1 to finish 44th overall at the Pre-National Meet on Oct. 17. The race was held at Louisville's E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, where the Gophers will once again compete on the course this Saturday at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Zutz improved upon his personal record on Nov. 1 with a 23:40.0 to finish seventh at the 2015 Big Ten Championships - earning his first career all-conference honor and running the fifth-fastest eight-kilometer in school history.
The 2015 NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, Nov. 21 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The men's 10-kilometer race is set for 12 p.m. CT with the women's six-kilometer race starting at 11 a.m.
