Divers Sweep B1G Weekly Accolades

Juniors Matt Barnard and Lexi Tenenbaum were each tabbed B1G Diver of the Week following their standout performances at the 2015 Jean K. Freeman Invitational, announced today by the conference office. The accolade marks the fifth time Barnard has been selected this season, and the second for Tenenbaum in her career. This week's honors also bring Minnesota's total B1G Diver of the Week selections to 11 on the 2015-16 season.
Barnard's first-place marks in both the 3-meter and platform men's diving events broke the University of Minnesota program records. On platform, Barnard bested his own record with a score of 475.40. He also secured the 3-meter school record, winning with a score of 446.40, breaking the previous high score of 423.90 from Mikey Ross.
Tenenbaum topped the platform diving competition with a score of 318.20, a season best, and recorded a second-place mark on women's 3-meter with a total of 343.90 points. Each were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores.
Minnesota diving will next compete at the Georgia Invite from Sunday, Jan. 3 to Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.
