MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota pentathlete Jess Lehman (Herauf) has been named the Big Ten Conference Field Athlete of the Week after winning the pentathlon with 4,242 points at the St. Scholastica Opener last weekend.

Lehman won all five events and recorded indoor career-best marks in the long jump (6.06m, 19-10.75) and shot put (13.88m, 45-06.5) en route to her pentathlon title. Her 4,242 points was just 130 points shy of her Minnesota program record set at 4,372 points at the 2015 Big Ten Championship.

Her season-opening performance also included a time of 8.97 in the 60m hurdles and a 2:23.18 in the 800m. Lehman set St. Scholastica facility records in high jump (1.73m, 5-08), long jump, and pentathlon overall during the meet.

Lehman currently ranks No. 1 in the nation in the pentathlon, while jumps of 6.06m in the long jump and 1.73m in the high jump rank No. 4 and No. 10 in the nation, respectively.

This week's Big Ten weekly award marks the second Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor of Lehman's career; she also took home weekly honors on Feb. 2, 2015 after winning the pentathlon in her 2015 season debut with a then Minnesota program record 4,289 points at the Jack Johnson Classic.
