The Minnesota men's golf team will begin the spring season at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Coast, Fla. The tournament begins on Sunday, Feb. 15 and concludes on Monday, Feb. 16.

The Golden Gophers are slotted as the No. 11 seed and will face No. 6 Penn State in the first round. Tee times begin at 8:50 am CT. Minnesota finished fifth at least year's BTMP.

BTN will run tape-delayed coverage of the Big Ten Match Play at 12:30 CT on March 15.

The travel squad: Runar Arnorsson, Charlie Duensing, Jon DuToit, Riley Johnson, William Leaf, Tyler Lowenstein and Jose Mendez are all making the trip. Five players will compete in each team match, and coaches have the option to change the lineup after each round.

The field: All 14 Big Ten schools will participate in the tournament with Illinois and Ohio State receiving a bye in the first round as the No 1 and No 2 seeds, respectively. The Gophers went 4-7 against Big Ten opponents in the fall.

The course: The championship round will be played on the Conservatory Course. The par-72 course was designed by Tom Watson, and it plays at 7,777 yards. The course includes man-made lakes and three waterfall features and is rated as one the toughest and best courses in Florida. The Ocean Course, another award-winning course, will hold the round robin and consolation rounds.
