GopherSports: Why did you decide to attend the University of Minnesota?
Tori Simenec: I felt the team and coaches in Minnesota were the most real people of any recruiting trip I went on. They weren't putting on any show, they were just being themselves, and who they were was great.
GS: What is your most memorable swimming moment?
TS: Every 800 freestyle relay I have ever been on at Big Tens and NCAAs. You can't get much better than that.
GS: What is your favorite part of being a Golden Gopher?
TS: It sounds cliché, but my favorite part of being a Gopher is the best friends I have made here. Love you guys!
GS: What is your favorite pre-race song?
TS: Whatever song everyone is going CRAZY to in the locker room. Nothing pumps you up for a swim more than dancing with your girls.
GS: What is the best advice you have received from one of the coaches at Minnesota?
TS: To appreciate every opportunity we are given while being a Gopher.
GS: What is your dream job?
TS: My dream job is to work as a child psychology professor and to have my very own lab.
GS: What is your favorite post-meet meal?
TS: Oreos and peanut butter!
GS: Do you have any other hobbies outside of swimming?
TS: I enjoy almost any outdoor activities and I have recently been working on fostering homeless dogs, which has been quite an adventure.
GS: What do you plan on doing after graduation?
TS: I plan on taking a year off of school while applying to Clinical Psychology graduate programs.
GS: Want to give a shout out to anyone?
TS: Shout out to my parents who have given more time and energy supporting my swimming than anyone could ask for. Also, to some pretty amazing club coaches I was lucky enough to have growing up.
