MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 70 Minnesota women's tennis team improved its 2015 record to 9-4 with 7-0 wins over Marquette and Carleton Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center. They upped their home record to 7-1 and won at all six singles positions and all three doubles positions in each match.

The day began with the Gophers winning the doubles competition against Marquette. Tereza Brichacova and Paula Rincon-Otero improved to 5-2 at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 win at the top position. Jessika Mozia and Julia Courter clinched the first point with a win at No. 2 and Caroline Ryba and Mehvish Safdar capped the doubles sweep with a tiebreaker victory at No. 3.

In singles, Ryba extended Minnesota's lead with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 and Aria Lambert made it 3-0 with a straight-set win at No. 4. The team triumph was finished off when Mozia downed Ali Dawson at No. 3. The Gophers proceeded to close out the match with wins by Rincon-Otero at No. 6, Courter at No. 5 and Brichacova at No. 1 in a super tiebreaker.

All-time, Minnesota is now 9-1 against the Golden Eagles.

The Maroon and Gold continued its strong doubles play in its second match of the day. Pairings of Ryba and Safdar, Lambert and Kendall Heitzner and Courter and Alexandra Bergman won by 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0 scores, respectively, to give the Gophers a 1-0 lead.

With the Sunday doubles sweeps, the team is now a combined 24-11 in doubles on the spring.

To cushion the team lead, Courter opened singles with a win at No. 2 and Lambert earned her second win of the day, dispatching Mikayla Becich in the No. 1 flight. Both players won their matches without dropping a game. Safdar secured the team win with a victory at No. 5. She improved to 3-0 in spring singles.

Heitzer, Bergman and Rincon-Otero completed the sweep with straight-set singles wins of their own. Bergman's win was her first in dual match play in Maroon and Gold. Rincon-Otero notched the team's 100th overall win in the 2014-15 season.

The Gophers conclude a seven-match homestand against Wisconsin March 13 before heading to Fort Myers, Fla. March 16 to finish non-conference play.
