MINNEAPOLIS - Redshirt junior Jess Herauf will represent the Golden Gophers at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship this weekend. Herauf will be competing in the pentathlon, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT Saturday.

About the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championship
The NCAA indoor championship will be hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend with the first events beginning at 10 a.m. CT Friday and 10:45 a.m. CT Saturday.
WatchESPN will stream the event starting at 5:50 p.m. CT Friday and at 4:50 p.m. CT Saturday. A tape delay broadcast of the event will air on ESPNU at 6 p.m. CT on Monday, March 23.
About Jess Herauf
Herauf will compete in the pentathlon at the NCAA indoor meet for the second-straight season. She enters the 2015 indoor championship seeded fifth with 4,361 points after placing ninth and earning second-team All-American honors a year ago. Top-seeded Kendall Williams of Georgia leads with 4,609 points.
Herauf scored a Minnesota program record 4,361 points at the 2015 Big Ten Championship to take home her first B1G title. She was just five points shy of the Big Ten Conference record of 4,366, and she set a SPIRE Institute facility record.
2014 NCAA Indoor Championship Rewind
Last spring, Herauf and alum Alena Brooks represented the Gophers at the national meet. Both earned all-american honors with Brooks placing seventh in the 800-meter run and Herauf taking ninth in the pentathlon with 4,172 points, a number she has since bested.
Gopher Pentathletes at the NCAA Championship
Herauf and alum Liz Roehrig are the lone Gopher pentathletes to represent the Maroon & Gold at the national meet. Roehrig, a three-time NCAA pentathlon competitor, placed sixth in 2006 and 2008 and was 16th in 2007. Meanwhile, Herauf makes her second appearance in the NCAA pentathlon after placing ninth in 2014.
Last Time Out: Herauf Sets Pentathlon Record at B1G Meet
Herauf set a new Minnesota program record in the pentathlon with 4,361 points to lead the Gophers at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Championships. She won three of the five pentathlon events, leading the way in the shot put (13.43m), 800m (2:14.36) and the long jump with a career-best 6.02m to move into fifth among all-time Gophers. Heraufalso climbed in Minnesota's all-time ranks with a career-best time of 8.67 seconds in the 60m hurdles. Herauf's 4,361 points also included a third-place showing in the high jump at 1.71m.
Along with Herauf's B1G title,Titania Markland, Devin Stanford and Kimberly Golding led the Gophers with top-four individual finishes and Minnesota also placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay.
Markland led the way with a B1G runner-up showing in the 600m final, Stanford was third in the weight throw, and Golding placed fourth in the 60m hurdles. The 4x400m relay team of Emerald Egwim, Erin Hawkins, Jessica Waldvogel and Markland also picked up five points with a fourth-place finish in a season-best 3:37.03.
The Gophers placed ninth at the 2015 B1G meet with 51 points. Ohio State took home the women's team title with 84 points, followed by Michigan (69 points), Penn State (68), Purdue (68), Michigan State (65) and Nebraska (65) as the top six teams with two ties to make up the top five places. Wisconsin was seventh (58), followed by Maryland (53), ahead of the Gophers.
USTFCCCA National Rankings Update
No. 1 Arkansas, No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Texas make up the top five teams in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Divison I National Team Computer Rankings heading into this weekend's NCAA Championship. Representing the Big Ten in the top 25 are No. 11 Michigan State and No. 14 Wisconsin.
