ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The 63rd-ranked Minnesota women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss at the hands of No. 13 Michigan Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. The loss put a halt to the Gophers' six-match win streak and dropped their record to 11-5 on the season. They are 1-1 in Big Ten play.

Despite a close start in doubles, it was the Wolverines that claimed the match's first point.

Ranked pairings of Emina Bektas and Alex Najarian and Sarah Lee and Ronit Yurovsky won at the top two positions, respectively, to give Michigan the doubles competition. Bektas and Najarian entered the match ranked 14th, while Lee and Yurovsky were No. 64. Caroline Ryba and Mehvish Safdar had their match cut short at No. 3.

Najarian gave the Wolverines a quick start in singles by taking a win in straight sets at No. 4. Nineteenth-ranked Yurovsky and No. 21 Bektas followed suit at the top two spots to decide the match.

The sweep was completed with wins by No. 124-ranked Lee at No. 3, Mira Ruder-Hook at No. 5 and Sara Remynse at No. 6. Courter forced a third-set super tiebreaker with Remyse after dropping the first set, but fell short, 10-5.

The Gophers complete their weekend Sunday on the road against No. 44 Michigan State. The Spartans have won 12 of their last 13 matches, including a 4-3 victory against Wisconsin Saturday.
