Gophers Travel to 24-Team Goodwin

The Minnesota men's golf team is set for the Goodwin in Stanford, Calif. The tournament begins Thursday, March 26 and will conclude Saturday, March 28.

Minnesota will begin Round 1 at Hole 10 with St. Mary's and Arizona at 2:15 pm CT. On Saturday, the Gophers' Round 2 will start at Hole 1 at 9:30 am CT.

The travel squad: Jose Mendez, Riley Johnson, Jon DuToit, Matt Rachey and Rúnar Arnorsson will make up the Gophers' lineup. Mendez and Johnson were exempt from qualifying, while the other three earned spots during the team's trip to Arizona.

The field: There will be 24 teams competing at this event, including host and defending event champion No. 7 Stanford. The field also includes TCU's Paul Barjon, who won the 2013 event. Other teams in the event are No. 11 USC, No. 15 Oregon, No. 24 UNLV, Arizona, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Loyola Marymount, Northwestern, Pepperdine, Princeton, USF, San Jose State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, SMU, UAB, UC Davis and Washington State.

The course: The tournament will be played on the Stanford University Golf Course, which has consistently been rated as one of the finest in the world. The par-70, 6,727-yard course was designed in 1930 by architects William Bell and George Thomas.
