"DuToit was really good today," head coach John Carlson said. "His game has risen to a higher level in the last month. He started to shoot low scores at this point last year, and this year is no different. His confidence, driving and putting were all at an elite level in today's round."
The rest of the Gophers shot 75 or over on Friday. RĆĀŗnar Arnorsson (tied for 69th) followed yesterday's 70 with a 5-over 75 today. Matt Rachey turned in a 76, Riley Johnson a 77 and Jose Mendez a 78. Minnesota combined for a score of 295 (+15) today.
"Tomorrow is another opportunity for our young squad to gain experience competing against a quality field on a golf course that is similar in setup to Big Ten and NCAA Championships," Carlson said.
UAB is leading the tournament with a two-round score of 541 (-19). The Blazers' Will Cannon is tied with UNLV's John Oda for the individual lead.

Jon DuToit fired a 3-under 67 to lead Minnesota on the second day of the Goodwin. The Golden Gophers are tied for 18th after 36 holes in Stanford, Calif., with a combined score of 582 (+22).
DuToit birdied the last three holes of the front nine to get to 3-under at the turn. He then bogeyed one and birdied one for an even-par back nine. The score of 67 was a new season low for the junior, and he enters the final round tied for 26th place.
