Mable Earns All-America Accolades

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Aurora, Colo. native and Minnesota women's gymnastics junior Lindsay Mable has earned regular season All-America honors from the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC/W). The three-time First Team All-Big Ten honoree and 2015 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year received First Team All-America laurels on both balance beam and in the all-around while earning Second Team All-America recognition on floor exercise and vault.
This marks the third year the NACGC/W has announced All-America teams for the regular season. Members of the first team are the top eight ranked gymnasts on each event and the all-around. Members of the second team are gymnasts who are ranked No. 9-16.
Mable earned two First Team All-America accolades in 2014 in the all-around and the floor exercise as well as Second Team accolades on vault. In 2013, Mable picked up Second Team All-America plaudits for both the all-around and floor exercise as a freshman.
This season the Colorado Gymnastic Institute alumna has collected 29 individual event titles and 10 all-around crowns this season en route to earning the prestigious All-America honor. Mable earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week laurels six times over the course of the season and was the top-ranked all-around gymnast in the country for two consecutive weeks in February. On Feb. 14, Mable broke her own program-record all-around score by posting a 39.675 against Nebraska in front of a home crowd at the Sports Pavilion. Last week,Mable was named to the First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in her storied career. The Big Ten Gymnast of the Year honor marked the seventh league Gymnast of the Year honor for the Golden Gophers and the first since Gopher great Laura Johnson earned the coveted award in 2006.
Mable's outstanding junior campaign helped lead the Gophers to a No. 17 ranking. Minnesota will travel to Auburn University next weekend to compete in an NCAA Regional comprised of No. 5 Alabama, No. 8 Auburn, No. 23 Iowa and George Washington on Saturday, April 4. The event will begin at 6 p.m. CT live from Auburn Arena as well as streamed live on SEC Network+ (WatchESPN App).
