Gophers Finish 17th at Goodwin

DuToit carded an even-par 70 in the final round. Rúnar Arnórsson and Jose Mendez each went 1-under with a 69 on the final day of the tournament. Arnórsson tied for 50th at 4-over, and Mendez for 80th at 8-over.
"DuToit, Mendez and Arnórsson were consistent, while we struggled at the 4 and 5 positions," Carlson said. "Two rounds of 69 and one round of 70 today will give us much needed momentum heading into Arizona State next Friday."
Riley Johnson (tied for 118th) and Matt Rachey (tied for 121st) rounded out the Gophers' lineup at the Goodwin.
"I will be making a lineup change in hopes of finding the next Gopher who will step up for us," Carlson said.
UAB and SMU tied for first with team scores of 817 (-23). Stanford's Maverick McNealy and UAB's Will Cannon tied for medalist honors at 13-under.

Three Gophers shot even-par or better on Saturday, but Minnesota finished 17th as a team at the Goodwin. Jon DuToit finished tied for 24th at even for the tournament in Stanford, Calif.
"The Goodwin at Stanford offered a special opportunity for our team to climb up the rankings as we approach the Championship portion of our schedule and we didn't capitalize this week as a team," head coach John Carlson said.
