Five Gophers Named All-Americans

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team capped a remarkable 2015 season with five gymnasts earning All-America accolades at the NCAA Individual Event Finals on Saturday evening.
Ellis Mannon, Steve Jaciuk and Jack Metcalf competed for the Maroon and Gold for the final time on Saturday evening, each earning All-America status. Sophomore Zach Liebler and freshmen Joel Gagnon and Yaroslav Pochinka made their NCAA Individual Event Final debuts while Liebler and Gagnon were named All-Americans after stellar performances on floor exercise.
Floor exercise was the golden event for the Gophers as Liebler executed a phenomenal set earning third place finish. He scored a 15.575 and shared the spot on the podium with Michigan's Stacey Ervin. Gagnon tallied a 15.375 and earned a sixth place finish in his first trip to the event finals. Both Liebler and Gagnon are first time All-Americans.
Jaciuk finished his storied collegiate career by securing a third place finish on high bar with a score of 15.025. Jaciuk is also a first time All-American.
Metcalf had another outstanding routine on still rings where he tallied a 15.575 earning a sixth place finish and his first All-American accolade.
The 2015 Nissen-Emery Award winner and 2014 NCAA Pommel Horse champion finished in seventh place on Saturday evening as he scored a 13.825. Mannon is now a three time All-American for the Golden Gophers.
Pochinka also competed for the Maroon and Gold on Saturday evening. He placed ninth after scoring a 13.875 on vault.
Minnesota had five gymnasts earn All-America laurels for the first time since 2007 when Andre Berry, Kit Beikmann, Jake Lee, Adam Reichow and Cole Storer competed at the individual event finals.
